What's up with our life right now? Endless placement activities, projects reviews, test preps and worries about the future. You cannot help but feel a twinge of envy every time someone gets placed or hear about some older student's achievement. Everybody around you except you seems to knowing what they want to do with life. The pressure is slowly but surely getting to us (me). I gave up the idea of an engineering career last year but as long as I am in this place doubts are continuing to creep in. Am I missing out something? Should I be doing that or this instead? This is the general background but there is still some color in our lives. Before I go on I need to announce a few things
- S* my roomie has left my room, the hostel and the better part of our lives here and become a day scholar. No it should sound more dramatic.
- There is now a separate mess for the 'NRI' students. Which is a very big deal to me.
- I got an Erasmus grant to do my final semester in Spain which I have rejected after a lot of tough deliberation.
- I spilled the beans or rather G3 did.
- I have started on my Bharathanatyam coaching again and hope to do my arangetram soon. *fingers crossed*
K's treat this time was at this cool and funky burger place called Double Roti on a rainy evening. It was a day of sumptuous burgers and a 100 photographs. Apparently cab drivers just "drive"-out on you if they don't like where you are to be headed.
The next hangout was at the mall for the "Baahubali" film. Me,J,S* and G3, Since I had already watched the movie in Trichy only the others watched the movie while I spent some quality me-time alone at the mall shopping for my niece's b'day gift and at starbucks with a hot chocolate watching the rain lash outside. Done with the movie we dragged poor Biryani craving J to Jonah's Bistro and suffered our life's first Sushi's. I like how here in my life the question "When was the last time you did something for the first time?" would never catch me by surprise. The sushi's were a sordid affair never to repeat. :P Sorry J!
Also this semester me and G3 indulged in something crazy. We went on an impromptu trip to Pondicherry 190 km or so away because our initial plan to Vandaloor Zoo didn't happen due to a mourning holiday for Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam (R.I.P). Armed with just an SLR camera, snacks, water bottles, phone and purse we were literally for a day living each second not knowing what to expect. I was happy to visit the Aurobindo Ashram after about 8 years. We vlogged bits of the trip. Another first-ie. This is probably the craziest thing I ever did. Since no one but us knew where we were.
S,G3 and I also went shopping one day to T.Nagar. S's mom was in town with a friend. After brunch at Pizza Hut it was a day of good desi style shopping. Haggling with street vendors is indeed one of life's difficult arts.
This time next year each one of us would be spread across several time zones. The end is inching closer and I don't know if I want it faster or slower.
